International Yoga Day and Homeopathy

By Dr. Anisha · 21 June 2023

The United Nations’ recognition of yoga carries significant diplomatic importance for India and its diaspora, but its influence extends much further. Yoga’s widespread global adoption has transformed it into a lifestyle movement — and yoga and homeopathy share a longstanding connection worth exploring.

Yoga & Homeopathy

Both disciplines share fundamental principles and complement each other substantially. Each supports achieving enhanced health, harmony, and wellbeing by working to enhance and unblock the flow of energy through the body.

Homeopathy terms this the “Vital Force,” while yoga calls it “Prana” — essentially identical concepts under different names (Traditional Chinese Medicine calls it “Chi”). Both systems recognize that harmonious energy circulation is what maintains physiological health.

Yoga employs posture (asana), breath control (pranayama), and body locks (bandhas) to direct subtle energy through the nadis — energy channels surrounding the physical body. Prana must flow freely through these channels for physical, mental, and emotional wellness.

Homeopathy uses remedies to unblock or increase the flow of vital energy by matching a person’s overall state to the appropriate remedy. The energetically active remedy helps rebalance the body’s vibrational level. Disease emerges when this energy flow diminishes or becomes obstructed — a principle recognized by yoga, homeopathy, and Chinese medicine alike, though largely absent from conventional Western medicine.

Homeopathy’s popularity in India partly stems from this shared Eastern philosophical perspective. Both are practical approaches to unifying body, mind, and spirit — eliminating disease while increasing vitality, and facilitating deeper self-transformation.

While each is powerful on its own, combined they offer a more effective path to overcoming physical and mental illness than either alone.
